Building Flight Time

Thank you for your interest in the time-building program at Warsaw Flying Club.  This program is designed for pilots who are looking to build flight time toward their next rating and is geared toward students at Purdue, Indiana State, and Vincinnes.  But this is most popular among European Pilots who have just obtained their PPL and are required to fly 75 hours as Pilot-In-Command prior to starting training for their Instrument Rating.

Introduction
One Person Program
Two Person Program

Now there is a way to build the flight time you need at an affordable rate of only $47 an hour ($45 in some circumstances). The flight time is in a Cessna 152 based just southeast of Chicago, providing many exciting destinations as you travel across the United States, building memories that will last a lifetime.

The Euro (Visitors from Europe)
Take advantage of a strong Euro and a weak Dollar. Due to the current policy toward the Dollar in the United States, the dollar has been devalued, making the United States an ideal vacation spot for Europeans. Both taxes and the current exchange rate conspire to make your trip to the United States more affordable than ever.

The Location
Your home base and aircraft base is centrally located with Chicago to the northwest, St. Louis and New Orleans to the southwest, Florida to the South, New York and the rest of New England to the East. With a little planning, your experience in the United States can be a relaxing vacation, or an exciting adventure. The choices are yours.

The Airport

Your home airport will be in the northern plains of central Indiana. The elevation is 850 feet, runways 9/27 are 6000 feet long while runways 18/36 are 4600 feet. The airport has no control tower and is used for mostly corporate jets, so traffic is light. There are no landing fees in the United States except for a few in large cities, so practicing takeoffs and landings won't cause any increase in fees.

Housing
Housing is provided in a Swiss/German-American family home ten minutes from the airport. It is located on 15 acres of property with a swimming pool, beach-volleyball court, with your room overlooking a quiet creek flowing through the property. On the two-person program, you will get 31 days; and the one-person program provides 15 days.

The Aircraft
The Cessna 152 is a 110 horsepower aircraft that seats two side-by-side. There is ample cargo room behind the seats, but weight limitations restrict all the room from being useful. It has an endurance of 3-4 hours, which is just about as long as you can stand sitting. Your Cessna 152 will be IFR equipped and navigation will be supplemented with a hand-held GPS mounted on the yoke.

Prerequisites
Due to the cabin size of this Cessna 152, it may become uncomfortable to spend a lot of time in the cabin if you are taller than six feet or weigh more than 225 pounds. The only way you can be sure is to find a Cessna 152 nearby and try it out. You will also need an FAA Private Pilot's License, although if you have a foreign "PPL", it can be converted to an FAA Private in about 15-30 minutes. You will be required to speak English and read two or three sentences.
