LESSON OBJECTIVE:

During this lesson, the student will review full panel instruemnt flying in preperation for partial panel flight as well as learn about the aircraft instrument systems, equipment, and preflight checks necessary for IFR flight.

  • Aircraft Flight Instruments and Navigation Equipment
  • Preflight Check of Instruments, Equipment, and Systems
  • Instrument Cockpit Check
  • IFR Takeoff Preparations

  • Standard-Rate turns
  • Constant Airspeed Climbs and Descents

Lesson Introduction

  • Change of Airspeed
  • Steep Turns
  • Checking Instruments and Equipment at Shutdown

COMPLETION STANDARDS:

The student will demonstrate an understanding of full panel instrument flight and aircraft attitude control by maintaining altitude +/-200 feet, heading +/-15 degrees and airspeed +/-15 knots. The student will also display an understanding of aircraft systems related to IFR operations and the importance of IFR takeoff preperations.
