Bruce Jackson Passes Private Pilot
Checkride!
On
Saturday, September 2nd, Bruce Jackson took his checkride for his Private
Pilot License. He joins his brother, Brad, as an aviator based at the Warsaw
Municipal Airport.
Bruce began his training in January after being introduced to Jon Fussle,
the President of the Warsaw Flying Club, where he took his lessons. Bruce's
brother, Brad, had just bought an airplane and took Bruce for a few rides
with both their families. When Bruce expressed interest in the idea, his
brother referred him to the same instructor who taught him. At the time, Jon
Fussle, along with his brother, David Fussle, and their cousin, Erik Fussle,
were all instructing at the Flying Club. Jon was enthusiastic to begin
Bruce's training, but had to refer him to Erik because of his current
workload.
Before even taking his first lesson, Bruce approached Jon about purchasing
an airplane of his own. Fussle advised Jackson in his purchase, but was
always one step behind the full-speed Jackson. Only a few days after being
introduced to the Fussle's, Jackson took Brad Jackson and Erik Fussle, the
Flight Instructor they would end up sharing, to Michigan to look at an
airplane. They flew it back to Warsaw for a pre-buy inspection, but by the
time they touched down in Warsaw, Bruce had made a conditional offer on the
aircraft.
Due to his work schedule running T.L.
Jackson in Syracuse, Bruce's training took slightly longer than usual.
The spring, summer, and fall are all busy seasons for Jackson, so working
the flying into the schedule was always a challenge. But his determination
and dedication to flying finally paid off on September 2nd, when he flew to
Valparaiso, Indiana, to take his checkride. Bruce plans on adding an
Instrument Rating to his pilot's license this winter. The Instrument Rating
gives a pilot the knowledge and skills required to safely fly an aircraft in
virtually any weather to virtually any airport. Without the rating, a pilot
can not fly in fog, clouds, or any other kind of conditions where visibility
is reduced
Congratulations to Bruce Jackson and the entire T.L. Jackson family on their newest pilot.
