DUAL-STAGE CHECK

LESSON OBJECTIVE:

During this stage check, the Chief Instructor, the designated Assistant Chief, or another designated instructor evaluates the student’s solo abilities to depart the traffic pattern area on future flights.

*       Flight at Slow Airspeeds with Realistic Distractions

*       Recognition and Recovery from Stalls Entered from Level Flight and from Turns

*       Normal Approach and Landing

*       Emergency Operations

COMPLETION STANDARDS:

This lesson and Stage 1 are complete when the student can competently perform preflight duties and all other procedures necessary for the safe conduct of a solo flight in the local training area. Altitude will be maintained within +/-150 feet, headings within +/-15 degrees, and airspeed within +/-10 knots.
